SorSU community celebrates Teachers’/Personnel’s Day — honors educators’, staff’s contributions; expresses heartfelt tributes

In honor of World Teachers’ Day, Sorsogon State University (SorSU) – Sorsogon City Campus organized a heartfelt celebration of Teachers’/Personnel’s Day, dedicated to recognizing the profound impact and contribution of SorSU faculty members, as well as the vital support provided by University staff in education and in shaping the lives of SorSUeno students, held today, October 4, 2024, at the SorSU Covered Court, Sorsogon City Campus.

Carrying the theme, “Valuing Teachers’ Voices: Towards a New Social Contract for Education,” the one-day festivities began with a solemn First Friday Mass. The morning session highlighted engaging activities designed to celebrate the hard work of teachers and staff, allowing them to completely enjoy their special day. Among the activities prepared were a singing competition and an exhibition basketball game featuring teaching personnel from Main Campus vs. Baribag Campus. Additionally, wellness service sessions — including male haircuts, manicures/pedicures, and massages — were offered to educators, pampering them with a well-deserved break and avenues for self-care.

Meanwhile, the afternoon program highlighted the various student organizations’ heartfelt tributes both to the faculty and non-teaching personnel, as demonstrated through messages, tokens, as well as performances and cultural presentations from SorSU –Dance Theater and Cultural Group (DTCG), TAC-SaKaTe, Himig SorSUenos, Instrumentos de Cordo, and SaMaFil. Moreover, the celebration likewise showcased competitive performances from the four colleges on the campus, including a presentation from the Non-Teaching Personnel Association (NTPA). The College of Business and Management (CBM) bagged the 1st Runner-Up, while COEA and CoTEdMBN clinched the 2nd runner-up and 3rd runner-up, respectively. The celebration wrapped up with tributes and gifts presented to the faculty and personnel from the SorSU administration, Supreme Student Council, special organizations, and major/minor organizations.

Muli, isang maalab na pagbati sa lahat ng bayaning guro ngayong Pandaigdigang Araw ng mga Tagapagturo! Mabuhay ang mga SorSUenong guro!

Let us make it our daily mission — and not just during a one-day celebration — to constantly honor our educators as modern-day heroes who have dedicated their lives to the noblest profession, and recognize their profound impact on shaping students’ lives and building the future of our nation.
