To strengthen the effectiveness and sustainability of its extension initiatives, the Sorsogon State University (SorSU) Office of the Extension and Training successfully conducted a three-day “Impact Evaluation Training for Extension Implementers: Driving Sustainable Project Implementation and Outcomes” from September 9-11, 2025, at Antonio’s Hall, SorSU Dormtel, Sorsogon City.

The program officially opened with a message from Dr. Ryan V. Dio (Vice President for Research, Extension and Training), followed by the introduction of the resource speaker by Dr. Ana Cristina G. Fortes (Director, Extension and Training).


Over the course of three days, Dr. Marites Tiongco (Professor, Carlos L. Tiu School of Economics, De La Salle University) facilitated the sessions, which covered topics such as:
Topic 1: Introduction to Impact Evaluation with Exercise on Evaluability Assessment
Topic 2: Theory of Change and Results Framework with Exercise on TOC/Results Framework
Topic 3: Sampling Design, Surveys, and Training on R or Strata 18
Topic 4: Qualitative and Quantitative Methods
Topic 5: Experimental and Quasi-Experimental Methods with Exercise on the Methods using Hypothetical data and R/Strata 18


The training was capped off with a final workshop and closing remarks delivered by Dr. Ma. Claire Dicen (Dean, College of Business Management), on behalf of Dr. Telesforo D. Escoto (Campus Director, Sorsogon City).


This program is part of SorSU’s ongoing efforts to build the capacity of extension implementers to assess project outcomes more effectively, supporting more evidence-based and sustainable project implementation across the university’s extension programs. (SorSU PIO)
