Sorsogon State University (SorSU), through its Admission Office, successfully conducted the pilot implementation of its newly developed admission test for Academic Year 2026–2027 across three state universities and colleges (SUCs) in the Bicol Region: Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA), Bicol University (BU), and Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges (CSPC).
The pilot activity began on November 20, 2025, at CBSUA-Pili, Camarines Sur, where SorSU facilitated the exam for 150 prospective freshmen, organized into three sets of 50 examinees. Each set used 50 test forms, making a total of 150 forms administered across the three pilot SUCs. The initiative forms part of the university’s continuing efforts to refine, validate, and strengthen its updated admissions system.
CBSUA served as one of the designated pilot centers, alongside BU and CSPC, reflecting SorSU’s commitment to wider regional collaboration in promoting accessible and quality higher education. The data and feedback gathered from the participant pool will be instrumental in assessing the effectiveness, clarity, and technical soundness of the updated admission test.
As part of the institutional engagement, Dr. Sherill Gilbas, (Head-SorSU Admissions Office) and her team, Ms. Annebel C. Hernandez (SorSU Admission Office), Ms. Catherine Freo (RGC, RPM) and Ms. Loriean G. Grantos (RPM) also conducted courtesy visits to the SUC presidents: Dr. Alberto N. Naperi, President, Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) and Dr. Amado A. Oliva, Jr., President, Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges (CSPC).
Furthermore, Dr. Gilbas shared that partnering with fellow SUCs provides a valuable opportunity to ensure that the redesigned admissions framework is responsive to the needs and expectations of incoming college students. Insights from the pilot run will guide the final revisions prior to the full implementation of SorSU’s enhanced admissions process for AY 2026–2027.
