Sorsogon State University – College of Teacher Education and Midwifery, headed by Dr. Alfonso L. Garcia, Jr. (Dean, CoTEdM), successfully culminated its week-long CoTEdM Week 2024 with its 1st LOTUS (Localized Tutorial Services) Grand Fair Day 2024, highlighting and celebrating the remarkable accomplishments of CoTEd student-extensionists on providing free tutorial services to young tutees, held on May 11, 2024, at the SorSU University Library, Sorsogon City Campus.
Donned in their creative costume attires, SorSU-CoTEdM faculty members as well as CoTEd students alongside their tutees partook in an in-campus parade, which began at the SorSU Covered Court and concluded at the University Library, officially kicking off the 1st Grand LOTUS Fair Day of the College.
The culminating activity of CoTEdM Week was likewise graced by SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, where SorSU President De Jesus led the first storytelling session. She interactively read and narrated to the tutees the story titled, “Ang Napili na Taga-Salbar”, engaging the children as well as prompting them to actively respond to President De Jesus’ several questions about the story.
Further, the tutee-participants also enjoyed the imaginative storytelling session of Prof. Marigrace D. Carretero (Senior Faculty of CoTEdM) as well as the respective narrative performances of young storytellers, Seth Mason M. Bosquillos and Rachelle P. Barcelo.
In addition, the 1st Grand Lotus Fair highlighted the distribution of individual learning kits (school bags) facilitated by the SorSU President together with Dr. Telesforo D. Escoto (Campus Director, Sorsogon City Campus) & Ms. Erlinda P. Enguerra (SorSU University Librarian). Moreover, the event featured other activities such as face painting, games, intermission numbers/performances, & distribution of party candies.
The LOTUS Grand Fair Day 2024 signifies the relentless devotion and commitment of SorSU-CoTEd in advocating for a supportive learning community and championing inclusive education toward positive learning experiences for students. Through initiatives like Project LOTUS (Localized Tutorial Service), the College continues to create a transformative impact on the lives of learners, reinforcing their individual development, learning improvement, and academic success.
