The Sorsogon State University (SorSU) Dance Theater and Cultural Group (DTCG), in collaboration with the 2nd-year students of the Bachelor of Physical Education (BPED) and Bachelor of Culture and Arts Education (BCAED), hosted a cultural showcase entitled “Hiraya Manawari” held last August 28, 2024 at the SorSU Social Hall at 6:00 in the evening. This event was organized by Prof. Oliver F. Garbin, Head of the Sports, Culture and Arts Unit of the University.
“Hiraya Manawari,” which translates to “Vision Fulfilled,” or “Reach your dreams” (in some cases “May you reach your dreams:) celebrated the richness of Philippine traditional dances amidst the growing influence of diverse cultures. The performance underscored the importance of preserving and valuing our cultural heritage and identity.
The SorSU DTCG extends its sincere gratitude to Ms. Kristel Kimberly Gutierrez Dellomas, Mr. Tommy Encinares, and Ms. Lizel Lerios for their unwavering support. The organization also acknowledges the contribution of Instrumentos De Cordo and their esteemed Conductor and Adviser, Ms. Shayne Kate A. Gozo, for their moving rendition of the Philippine national anthem, “Lupang Hinirang.”
The DTCG appreciates the enthusiastic attendance and support from the community and hopes that attendees enjoyed the talents showcased during the event. The group looks forward to welcoming the public to future cultural activities.
