With the aim to strengthen camaraderie and teamwork as well as foster enhanced mental well-being among employees for a more united SorSU community, Sorsogon State University (SorSU), through the Office of the Gender and Development headed by Prof. Riche P. Duran (Director, GAD), successfully spearheaded the one-day university-wide SorSU Team Development, held last May 24, 2024, at the Recidencia Del Hamor, Inlagadian, Casiguran, Sorsogon.
In her inspirational message, SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, expressed her profound appreciation to all SorSU key officials, faculty members, and nonteaching personnel for their hard work and commitment to achieving excellence and continuous advancement of the University. SorSU President emphasized, “Ang tagumpay ng SorSU ay hindi ko lang tagumpay, kundi tagumpay nating lahat. Let’s continue what we have started.”
Bannering the theme, “Beyond Borders: Bridging Minds, Building Strengths,” the university-wide team-building activity featured informative talk sessions including Key Provisions of RA 11036 and their Implications in the Workplace by Atty. Mary Joy C. Bongapat (Attorney IV, SorSU Legal Unit) as well as the insightful discussion on Enhancing Workplace Well-Being: Strengthening Connections and Coping Strategies by Ms. Mary Ann J. Jintalan (Head, Guidance and Counseling Services Unit), which covered several Qigong meditation techniques, laughter yoga, and other engaging meditation exercises.
Further, the event likewise highlighted various interactive team development activities, team development dance, and the iconic formation of human SorSU. In addition, the newly hired SorSU employees (both teaching and non-teaching personnel) formally introduced themselves to officials and other participants. This was followed by a series of stationed activities for the newly hired personnel, which served as their ceremonial welcome as official members of the academe.
