Marking another historic achievement on the global academic stage, Dr. Aldrin John J. Estonanto, SorSU faculty-researcher from the College of Teacher Education (CoTEd), impressively bagged the prestigious Nadim Bronze Award in the Mathematics Education Category at the recently concluded International Symposium for Science and Mathematics Classroom Teachers 2025 (ISSMCT), organized by the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Regional Centre for Education in Science and Mathematics (SEAMEO RECSAM), held from February 25-26, 2025, at the SEAMEO RECSAM, Penang, Malaysia.
Through his paper titled “Contextualized Self-Regulated Blended Learning (CSBL) Model for Reducing Mathematics Anxiety in Pre-Calculus,” Dr. Estonanto demonstrated exceptional innovative pedagogical classroom practice, notably addressing mathematics anxiety among students — earning him the distinction as the only Filipino recipient of the esteemed Nadim Award under the said category.
The Nadim Award honors individuals and organizations that exemplify outstanding innovation and resourcefulness in the classroom, signifying the highest recognition for those who introduce new ideas and advancements in teaching and learning Science and Mathematics (SEAMEO RECSAM, 2025).
Representing SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, Dr. Ryan V. Dio (Vice President for Research, Extension and Training) also participated in the two-day international symposium. Notably, the event likewise served as an avenue for SorSU to establish future partnerships and collaborations with academic institutions in the ASEAN region, including SEAMEO RECSAM.
On March 3, 2025, Dr. Estonanto, the Nadim Bronze Awardee, alongside VPRET Dr. Dio and Dr. Vivien L. Chua (Director, International Relations Office), paid a courtesy visit to SorSU President De Jesus. During the visit, the President congratulated Dr. Estonanto on his notable milestone as a distinguished educator-researcher.
