Strengthening the University’s vision and commitment to developing globally competitive leaders and professionals, a virtual Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) ceremonial signing between Sorsogon State University (SorSU) and Global Skilled Employment Services (GSES) took place on July 07, 2023, via Zoom meeting.
Through the proactive effort and initiative of SorSU-International Relations Office (IRO), headed by Dr. Vivien L. Chua (Director, SorSU-IRO) and SorSU-Castilla Campus, led by Prof. Andrew F. Detera (Campus Director, SorSU-Castilla Campus), the MOA symbolizes a shared partnership and collaboration between SorSU and GSES on overseas education, On-the-Job Training (OJT) of students, and employment opportunities for recent graduates and graduates/alumni with at least one or two years work experience & would qualify for a working visa, and other academic & professional development activities along the field of agriculture.
Global Skilled Employment Services (GSES), a recruitment services company based in Melbourne, Australia, with a sister company in the Philippines, specializes in providing and connecting Australian employers with highly skilled workers since 2010 and has deployed numerous Filipino workers in Australian dairy farms. At present, with the assistance and support of GSES, four alumni of SorSU-Castilla Campus are successfully working and living in Australia.
During the ceremonial MOA signing program, Dr. Jhonner D. Ricafort (Vice President for Academic Affairs), in his welcome remarks, emphasized that the agreement marks the beginning of a fruitful partnership to provide SorSUeño students with valuable On-the-Job Training (OJT) opportunities in Australia and contribute to the students’ future success.

Meanwhile, SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, sincerely expressed her gratitude to GSES’s commitment to its collaboration with the institution in bridging student-interns and employees into the global workforce, affirming that the agency is helping not only the University to achieve its internationalization goals but more importantly, it will be offering internship venues to SorSU Agriculture students and much-needed employment opportunities to SorSU graduates.

Likewise, Prof. Andrew F.
