To strengthen awareness, encourage collective action against dangerous drugs/substance abuse, and promote drug-free living within the community, the Sorsogon State University – Guidance and Counseling Services Unit (GSCU), in collaboration with the Health Services Unit (HSU), Safety and Security Services Unit, National Service Training Program, Student Council Affairs Unit, and the University Student Council (USC), successfully led a series of activities in observance of Drug Abuse Prevention and Control (DAPC) Week, which culminated in the ‘Walk Away from Drugs’ Unity Parade on November 21, 2025, at the SorSU Covered Court, Sorsogon City Campus.

The week-long observance also featured both online and on-campus initiatives, including online infographic and digital poster-making contests, as well as on-the-spot slogan and manual poster-making competitions conducted simultaneously across campuses.

Capping the series of activities, the in-campus ‘Walk Away from Drugs’ Unity Parade brought together SorSUeno students, officials, faculty members, and personnel, who voluntarily joined in the advocacy walk while carrying placards, slogans, and infographics promoting an anti-drug awareness campaign. Their active participation demonstrated a shared dedication to drug-free lifestyles and their support for the university’s preventive education efforts.

Through these meaningful initiatives, the SorSU community not only raised awareness but also amplified a collective sense of solidarity for positive and healthy lifestyle choices. The university remains steadfast in championing and ensuring a safe and drug-free academic environment for its students, employees, stakeholders, and local communities. (SorSU PIO)
