With the theme, “Batch 2025 Graduates: Life Champions and Future-Ready Professionals of the 21st Century,” Sorsogon State University (SorSU) Graduate School celebrated an academic milestone with its 32nd Commencement Exercise on July 3, 2025, at the SorSU Audio-Visual Hall, Sorsogon City. The event honored the perseverance and dedication of Class 2025.

The ceremony opened with the traditional academic processional, followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem and a doxology. One of the program’s highlights was the Imposition of Hoods, where parents or spouses placed academic hoods on the candidates, indicating the completion of their graduate programs.

Eighty-three candidates for graduation were formally presented and certified by Dr. Susan S. Janer (Dean, Graduate School), comprising the following: 10 Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Management, 2 Doctor of Philosophy in Filipino, 9 Master of Arts in Management major in Administration and Supervision, 8 Master of Arts in Management major in Public Administration, 11 Master of Arts in Education major in English, 18 Master of Arts in Education major in Filipino, 9 Master of Arts in Education major in Mathematics, 4 Master of Arts in Teaching major in Science Education, 7 Master of Arts in Teaching major in Technology and Home Economics, 1 Master of Arts in Teaching major in Technology Education with specialization in Automotive Technology, 1 Master of Arts in Teaching major in Technology Education with specialization in Electrical Technology, 1 Master of Arts in Teaching major in Technology Education with specialization in Food Service Management, and 2 Master in Education major in Educational Management.

SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, formally conferred the degrees and introduced the guest speaker, Dr. Joshua E. Oyon-Oyon (Education Program Supervisor I, Filipino, DepEd, SDO-Masbate), who delivered an inspiring address underscoring the importance of graduate education in preparing professionals for career advancement and national development. In his speech, he told the graduates, “You are the professionals who transcended the boundaries of learning in pursuit of profound knowledge, a higher calling, and an unwavering standard of excellence.”

He shared what the PUSO acronym in Pamantasang May Puso means to him. “P-Paninindigan. Ang pagkakaroon ng matibay na prinsipyo at integridad ay mahalaga sa propesyon. Ang paninindigan ay magsisilbing gabay natin sa paggawa ng tama. U-Ugnayan. Makipag ugnayan, makipagkapwa tao at makipagtulungan. Maganda na maayos ang pakikitungo nyo sa mga kasama nyo sa trabaho dahil sila ang tutulong sainyo balang araw. S- Sipag at Sakripisyo. Hindi sapat ang talino, kailangan ng tiyaga, sipag at handang mag sakripiso para sa pang matagalang tagumpay. O-Oportunidad. Hindi ito tungkol sa paghintay ng oportunidad kundi ang pagiging handa at bukas ang loob sa paglikha nito. Dapat may kakayahang makita ang posibilidad sa sitwasyon at kayang maging malikhain sa bawat hamon ng buhay.”

Following the awarding of diplomas, the graduates recited the Pledge of Loyalty and were formally inducted into the SorSU Alumni Association. The ceremony ended with the singing of the university hymn, officially concluding the event.
