Emphasizing the importance of continuous capacity-building in strengthening public governance, the Sorsogon State University-Graduate School (SorSU-GS) conducted a seminar-workshop on Local Innovations, Strategic, and Fiscal Management in the Public Sector, held on November 29, 2025, at SorSU Dormtel, Sorsogon City Campus.
The program commenced with welcome remarks from Dr. Susan S. Janer (Dean, SorSU-Graduate School) and an inspirational message from Dr. Jhonner D. Ricafort (Vice President for Academic Affairs).
A series of sessions highlighted the seminar-workshop. Mr. Arnel Renato L. Madrideo (Provincial Director, DILG-Sorsogon) delivered the first talk on “Strengthening Local Governance through The Seal of Good Local Governance: Insights and Best Practices from the Field.”
This was followed by Engr. Luis G. Banua (Former Regional Director, NEDA Region V), who discussed “Strategic Management in the Public Sector.” The final session was conducted by Atty. Michael B. Bongalonta, CPA, DBA (Associate Professor III, SorSU-Bulan Campus), focusing on “Public Fiscal Administration: Ensuring Accountability among Public Officials,” with emphasis on transparency and the prudent management of public funds.
Participants took part in a workshop and group discussions, presenting strategic solutions for public sector management. The event concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Errol G. De Castro (Program Chair, DPA/MAMPA/MPA Programs).
Through this initiative, SorSU reaffirmed its commitment to advancing ethical governance, effective management, and innovative approaches in addressing the challenges faced by local government units and public institutions. (SorSU PIO)
