SorSU Himig Sorsuenos Enhances Skills at 1st Albay Regional Choral Festival in Legazpi City

The Sorsogon State University (SorSU) Himig Sorsuenos choir embarked on a notable journey to Legazpi City to participate in a prestigious workshop hosted by the University of Santo Tomas (UST) titled 1st Albay Regional Choral Festival at Divine College’s Legazpi North Campus, Legazpi City last June 15, 2024.

Several other Bicol Choral Groups also attended the event namely: Tingog ni Ina Choir and Mr. Othelo Barrun Daria Jr., UNC Glee Club and Mr. Dave Lorenz Delos Santos, St. Agnes Academy Tingog Chorale and Mr. Edward M. Miranda Jr., Gregorian & Camiri Choir and Mr. Billy Malto, Divine Word College of Legazpi Chorale, CBSUA Chorale and Mr. Cris Caryl Yu, LNHS Voice Chorale and Mr. Celger Venzon, CORO Bikolano and Mr. Ricky Solero, Baao Children-Youth Choir and Mr. Emmanuel B. Ramos II and Bicol Voices Chorale.

The workshop provided a unique platform for the choir members to engage with and gain insights from the renowned UST Singers. The discussions offered invaluable mentorship from these acclaimed artists, enriching the Himig Sorsuenos’ choral expertise. Concurrently, the choir’s conductor, Professor Edwin J. Balgemino, attended a specialized master class conducted by the acclaimed choral conductor, Dr. Fidel G. Calalang Jr.

In the afternoon session, the SorSU Himig Sorsuenos joined other participating choirs for a collaborative practice, culminating in a joint performance of their tutti song. Additionally, the group showcased their own prepared pieces, “Let My Love Be Heard” and “Imagine,” demonstrating their growth and the fruits of their recent experiences.
