Sorsogon State University (SorSU) took a significant step in preparing for the 2nd International Conference on Southeast Asian Multidisciplinary Research Expo and Extension Conference 2025 (SEAMREEC 2025) with a preliminary coordination meeting held today, April 25, 2025, at the SorSU Boardroom.
The meeting was presided over by SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, and organized by the Office of the Vice President for Research, Extension, and Training, through Prof. Frances Grace J. Jetomo, Overall Coordinator and Head of Communications and Online Logistics.
Key representatives from local government units and national agencies attended, including DTI Provincial Director Ma. Lourdes D. Pancho, Sorsogon City Tourism Officer Asia Olbes-Jao, Provincial Youth Officer Julius E. Edma, Kagandahan Program Resident Manager Christine Sincua, DTI STIDS Merla P. Cazula, PPDO-PEO IV Shelly L. Dato, and Sorsogon City Tourism Staff Karla Mae Portuguez. Also present were SorSU officials Dr. Vivien M. Chua, (Director-International Research Office), Prof. Claire M. Dicen (Dean, College of Business Management), Mr. Romeo SE. Mendoza (Director-Business Affairs Office) and Ms. Myrna D. Leoncito (Director-PIO)
Among the topics discussed were the core components of the conference program, including conference exhibits at the Sorsogon Convention Center which will highlight local industries, cultural products, and research outputs, logistical coordination and visits to Sorsogon’s top tourist destinations and festivities during the Gayon Ciudad celebration—an initiative that links academic discourse with environmental awareness and sustainable tourism.
In her closing message, Dr. De Jesus expressed her gratitude to the participating agencies for their shared commitment to positioning the Pamantasang may Puso as a hub for international academic exchange and the Sorsogon Province as a most popular tourist destination. (SorSU PIO)
