To enhance mental health literacy and promote emotional resilience among students, the Sorsogon State University, through the Guidance and Counseling Services Unit, under the Office of the Student Development and Services (OSDS), conducted a mental health symposium titled “SorSU: Step Up for Mental Wellness” on October 10, 2025. The hybrid event was held via Zoom and on-site at SorSU AV Hall, Sorsogon City.

DLSU Registered Guidance Counselors Mr. Resty John C. Dimal, Ms. Candice Chelsea F. de Castro, Ms. Michelle M. Ventura, and Ms. Rochelle T. Fernandez were the event’s speakers. They led discussions on identifying common sources of stress among students, recognizing early indicators of mental health concerns, and practical approaches to self-care.

By organizing this event, SorSU demonstrated a deepened commitment to creating a supportive environment where students feel valued and empowered to seek help when needed.

This initiative highlights the university’s continued efforts to promote a campus culture where mental well-being is recognized as essential to both personal and academic success. (SorSU PIO)
