In another outstanding milestone, Sorsogon State University (SorSU), represented by SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, officially received the prestigious Excellence in Quality Assurance in Teacher Education (EQUATE) Award by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) on April 2, 2025, at the Manila Hotel, Ermita, Manila.

SorSU was recognized as a Top Performing TEI for both the Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) and the Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) programs. The university also received the TEI with Dual Awards distinction. SorSU was part of the 50 awardees (3.2%) for BEEd, 103 awardees (6.6%) for BSEd, and 33 awardees (2.12%) for Dual Awards among 1,553 TEIs across the Philippines.


The EQUATE Awards recognition solidify SorSU’s standing as one of the leading Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs) in the country, demonstrating the University’s unparalleled commitment to maintaining the highest standard in delivering quality pre-service teacher education program, adhering to CHED minimum standards, attaining program accreditations, and consistently excelling in the Board Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (BLEPT).


Joining SorSU President De Jesus at this significant occasion were Dr. Jhonner D. Ricafort (Vice President for Academic Affairs), Dr. Telesforo D. Escoto (Campus Director, Sorsogon City Campus), and Dr. Alfonso L. Garcia, Jr. (Dean, College of Teacher Education).
