Sorsogon State University-Magallanes Campus (SorSU-MC) proudly honored its newly-licensed Fisheries professionals in a testimonial ceremony held at the campus auditorium on October 21, 2025. The celebration highlighted a significant achievement for the university, having achieved a 100% passing rate among first-time takers in the 2025 Fisheries Professional Licensure Examination (FPLE), a result that reflects both academic excellence and the university’s strong commitment to quality education.
The event commenced with welcome remarks from Prof. Lynn C. Mendoza (Campus Director, Magallanes Campus), followed by a congratulatory message from SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, who commended the board passers for their exemplary performance.
In her speech, President De Jesus stated, “This recent exam results will contribute to the institutional standing of our university. Your passing rate is much higher than the national standard – placing us once again in the spotlight.”
She also shared thoughtful advice, saying: “Do not forget and neglect your families and relatives who supported your studies. Be always grateful to those people who helped you in one way or another – it is always proper to share your blessings. And when you have the opportunity, return to your alma mater to guide and inspire other fisheries student undergoing the same challenges you have passed through in the past. Don’t forget to express gratitude to your professors and mentors – without them, you would not have achieved the success you now rightfully enjoy.”
The program continued with messages from Mr. Elden G. Orgela (Program Chair, Fisheries Department), Ms. Ruby B. Lambunao, Ms. Margielina G. Melitante (Faculty, Fisheries Department) and the students’ parents.
A highlight of the event was the presentation of the board passers, who shared their insights and experiences in the field of Fisheries, along with their expressions of gratitude to those who supported them throughout their academic journey. The ceremony concluded with closing remarks from Mr. Abel E. Arevalo Jr. (Fisheries Department Faculty).
The Pamantasang May Puso takes pride in the success of its Fisheries board passers, whose excellent results demonstrate the quality of education the university provides. (SorSU PIO)
