The Sorsogon State University (SorSU) Income Generating Project (IGP) Office led by Prof. Romeo S.E. Mendoza (Director for SorSU IGP) welcomed delegates from the Eastern Samar State University (ESSU) IGP Office last July 6-7, 2023.
The delegates namely Dr. Jerald P. Torillo (ESSU IGP Director); Mr. Nido A. Opeña, Ms. Nena B. Tongohan, Mr. Fernando C. Tongohan Jr., Mr. Eden O. Cabong Jr., Mr. Arthur A. Colico and Mr. Charlito C. Trencio arrived at SorSU as part of their Lakbay Aral Educational Tour specifically focused on benchmarking the best practices and sites of SorSU’s IGP.
ESSU first visited the SorSU Castilla Campus where a short program presenting the IGPs of the Campus, Organizational Structures, and IGP functions and operations were introduced by Campus Director Prof. Andrew F. Detera and Ms. Mirabel A. Nolla (Business Affairs Coordinator, Castilla Campus). Next, the delegates were given an opportunity to visit sites such as the Integrated Academic and Library Building, Barn House, and Grain Processing Plant; they also observed other livestock facilities on the campus. Afterward, the ESSU team proceeded to the SorSU Main Campus for a courtesy visit to SorSU President Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus. While at the Main Campus, the delegates surveyed the Sorsogon Pili Fabrication Laboratory, University Board Room, SorSU Dormtel, University Library, Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, and Campus Director’s Office.
On the second day, the delegates went to SorSU Magallanes Campus where they were accompanied by Mr. Estephen Barliso (Business Affairs Coordinator, Magallanes Campus) and introduced to the Magallanes Campus Fish Products. The team toured the Dormtel, Post Harvest Building, Saline Tilapia Hatchery, Fish Pond, and the Sorsogon Crab Meat Processing and Canning Facility. The ESSU team headed to the last phase of their visit at SorSU Bulan Campus, where they were received by its Campus Director, Prof. Ma. Elena C. Demdam. Prof. Demdam presented the campus IGPs, and products of their entrepreneurship students, as well as gave a tour of the Rental Space of the Campus.
It is the mission of SorSU to continuously provide and deliver quality service to its constituents. Significantly, the university proudly sustains IGPs to address and meet the needs of the community for the betterment of Sorsogon. (SorSU PIO)
