On July 4, 2025, Sorsogon State University (SorSU) reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable development through the ceremonial signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Castilla and MANoC Community Partners. The event, held at Burabod, Castilla, Sorsogon, also included the distribution of native chickens to MANoC Community Partners to help create new livelihood opportunities.

The MOA signing was led by SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, representing Sorsogon State University, and Hon. Isagani B. Mendoza (Municipal Mayor), representing the Local Government Unit of Castilla, together with MANoC Community Partners (BUFA, ILAWOD, LOAF, MORFA, OFA, and SINAG) who also served as signatories to the agreement.

The ceremony was witnessed by Dr. Ryan V. Dio (Vice President for Research, Extension, and Training), Prof. Andrew D. Detera (Campus Director, Castilla Campus), Dr. Ana Cristina G. Fortes (Director, OES), Dr. Rochelle N. Aragon (Dean, College of Agriculture), Prof. Nestor D. Ebuenga, Jr. (Project Leader, MANoC), Ms. Ira M. Habla (Coordinator, Extension), Ms. Virginia P. Oanzon (Owner, Oanzon’s Farm) and Mr. Manuel L. Marantal (Municipal Agriculturist).
