SorSU Magallanes Campus Organizes Student Orientation 2024; Introduces Newly-Hired Faculty and Updated Campus Policies

As an avenue to introduce student services, campus guidelines, policies, and other university-related information, Sorsogon State University Magallanes Campus (SorSU-MC) held its Student Orientation on September 9, 2024, at the Quezon Park, SorSU-Magallanes Campus.

The SorSU-MC student orientation was conducted in two sessions: the morning session intended for the 615 first-year students, and the afternoon session for second- to fourth-year students. The event began with a welcome address from Prof. Lynn C. Mendoza (Campus Director of SorSU-MC). This was followed by a presentation of the curricular policies by the Program Chairs of SorSU-MC. Following this, SorSU President Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus then delivered an inspirational message, highlighting the university’s academic presence, achievements, and future plans aimed at benefiting all SorSUenos in their respective programs.


Moreover, Dr. Jhonner D. Ricafort, SorSU Vice President for Academic Affairs, provided an overview of academic-related affairs and student services. This was followed by a creative intermission number performed by the newly-hired faculty, which was well-received by the students.

The orientation also included detailed discussions on student services, such as the SorSU Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), Guidance and Counseling Services, Health Services Unit, Library Services, Registrar’s Office, Scholarship and Financial Assistance Services, Sports, Culture and Arts Unit, Gender and Development, and Industry Linkages and Development Office (ILDO)/Career and Job Placement Services. Further, Ms. Julie Ann H. Honrubia from the Human Resource Management Office introduced the SorSU-MC employees. An open forum was also held to address additional student concerns.
