SorSU-OVPAA holds University-wide Orientation Session on Faculty Reclassification per DBM-CHED Joint Circular No. 3, s. 2022

To orient the SorSU teaching personnel regarding the updated guidelines, criteria, and evaluation templates on the reclassification of faculty positions, Sorsogon State University – Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (SorSU-OVPAA), together with SorSU Institutional Evaluation Committee (IEC), spearheaded university-wide 𝘖𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘚𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘯 𝘍𝘢𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘺 𝘙𝘦𝘤𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘱𝘦𝘳 𝘋𝘉𝘔-𝘊𝘏𝘌𝘋 𝘑𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘵 𝘊𝘶𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘳 𝘕𝘰. 3, 𝘴. 2022 on July 20, 2023, at the SorSU AV Hall, Sorsogon City Campus.

Prof. Achilles G. Honasan (Faculty Federation President; Associate Professor I, Castilla Campus; & SorSU IEC Member) discussed the purpose & objectives of the orientation and its coverage & exemption, while Dr. Jhonner D. Ricafort (VPAA & SorSU IEC Chair) explained and elaborated the 𝘛𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘍𝘭𝘰𝘸 regarding the updated faculty reclassification.

Moreover, its evaluation criteria are grouped into four (4) Key Result Areas (KRAs), namely: (1) Instruction; (2) Research, Innovation and Creative Work; (3) Extension; & (4) Professional Development, which were presented and elaborated during the orientation proper by Dr. Jhonner D. Ricafort (VPAA); Dr. Susan S. Janer (Dean, Graduate School & SorSU IEC Member); Dr. Sherill A. Gilbas (Professor VI; Head, Admissions Services; & SorSU IEC Member); Prof. Abner L. Dellosa (Head, Human Resource Management and Development Office & SorSU IEC Member), respectively.

After the orientation & workshop proper, it was followed by an open forum, in which SorSU faculty members engaged in a Q&A Session, where their clarifications and queries were addressed by the IEC Chair and Members.

Relatively, the DBM-CHED Joint Circular No. 3, s. 2022, entitled: “𝘎𝘶𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘙𝘦𝘤𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘍𝘢𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘺 𝘗𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘊𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘨𝘦𝘴 (𝘚𝘜𝘊𝘴),” has the following objectives, to wit: (1) To provide an updated and revised policies and guidelines for the reclassification of faculty positions across SUCs; (2) To serve as basis for policy decisions for faculty development in SUCs; and (3) To motivate a faculty to upgrade his/her rank and compensation by improving his/her academic qualifications, achievements, and performance.
