SorSU-OVPRET spearheads Policy Review for Future-Proof University RDE Mandates and Programs

To address the timely revision and enhancement of the existing Research and Extension Manual of Operations (REMO) following the current development of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and aligning it with the SorSU’s vision of becoming a research university, Sorsogon State University – Office of the Vice President for Research, Extension, and Training (SorSU-OVPRET), under the leadership of by Dr. Ryan V. Dio (Vice President for Research, Extension, and Training), is currently conducting its 𝘗𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘺 𝘙𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘸 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘍𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦-𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘰𝘧 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘙𝘋𝘌 𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘴 from November 22-24, 2023, at Beata Beach and Sanctuary, Sta. Magdalena, Sorsogon.

Participated by concerned faculty members and personnel across four campuses, the three-day live-in activity commenced with welcome remarks from Dr. Ryan V. Dio (VPRET). This was followed by the talk session of Dr. Marcia Corazon Rico (Director, EMD) regarding Impact Assessment of Extension Projects: Appreciating the Essential Elements of Impact Evaluation in Community Extension Projects.

Meanwhile, the afternoon activity of Day 1 focused on the discussion on Impact Assessment of Extension Projects: Enhancing Community Extension Project: Design, Implementation, Monitoring, and Impact Evaluation by Dr. Elmer A. Lorenzana (Director, CPSD).

Day 2 of the event will feature the Presentation of Policies with Implications on RET, to be followed by a workshop and the Presentation of the revision and enhancements per chapter of the REMO, Critiquing and Consolidation, whereas Day 3 will highlight the Presentation of Revised REMO per chapter and critiquing as well as forum, discussion, and consolidation.

Further, the respective REMO Presentations were headed by Dr. Ryan V. Dio, particularly on Chapters 1, 4, and 9, alongside Prof. Christine H. Ferolino (Chapters 2, 5, 6, & 8), Dr. Ana Christina G. Fortes (Chapters 3, 5, 6, & 8), Ms. Frances Grace J. Jetomo (Chapters 6.7 & 7), Engr. Ivy Rose B. Gonzales (Chapters 7 & 10), and Mr. Jose Marie Gonzales (Chapters 8.6). (SorSU PIO)
