In line with the institution’s steadfast commitment to providing quality services to its clienteles, Sorsogon State University (SorSU), under the leadership of SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, together with the University’s top executives, successfully passed the two-day Surveillance 2 Audit for its ISO 9001:2015 Certification conducted by NQA Philippines, Inc., a leading global certification body, headed by Lead Auditor, Dr. Ranilo L. Bernardino (NQA Chief Executive Officer), from August 24-25, 2023, which included the 𝘚𝘰𝘳𝘚𝘜 𝘛𝘰𝘱 𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘈𝘶𝘥𝘪𝘵, 𝘉𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘯 𝘊𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘶𝘴 𝘈𝘶𝘥𝘪𝘵, 𝘔𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘦𝘴 𝘊𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘶𝘴 𝘈𝘶𝘥𝘪𝘵, and 𝘚𝘰𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘨𝘰𝘯 𝘊𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘊𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘶𝘴 𝘈𝘶𝘥𝘪𝘵.
The ISO 2nd Surveillance Audit reviewed and evaluated the level of conformity of SorSU’s management system per the requirements of the audit standard; compliance with applicable statutory, regulatory, and contractual requirements; and effectiveness of the management system in continually attaining its specified objectives; as well as identified opportunities for potential improvement of the management system.
During the two-day on-site audit, together with the 𝘛𝘰𝘱 𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘈𝘶𝘥𝘪𝘵 𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘹𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘰𝘳𝘨𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘻𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱 (policy, customer focus, roles and responsibilities), 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨/𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘬/𝘲𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘰𝘣𝘫𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘴, 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘦𝘷𝘢𝘭𝘶𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘸, 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘢𝘶𝘥𝘪𝘵, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵, 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘤𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘷𝘢𝘭𝘶𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘏𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘤𝘦 𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘋𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘱𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘖𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘦 (𝘏𝘙𝘔𝘋𝘖) 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘉𝘪𝘥𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘈𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘴 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘦 (𝘉𝘈𝘊), three campuses, namely: Bulan, Magallanes, and Sorsogon City Campuses were also subjected for audit whose scopes covered 𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘭, 𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘨𝘦𝘴 (𝘴𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘧 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘴), 𝘲𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘶𝘴 𝘮𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 [𝘉𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘔𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘦𝘴 𝘊𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺]. Dr. Ranilo L. Bernardino (NQA Chief Executive Officer) presented the audit findings alongside the institution’s commendable areas/points and Opportunities for Improvement (OFI) with only one minor nonconformity and no major nonconformity at the closing meeting. As a result, the Sorsogon State University (SorSU), following a thorough two-day inspection, successfully passed the 2nd Surveillance Audit and was recommended with continued ISO 9001:2015 Certification.
SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, on behalf of the University, expressed her gratitude to Dr. Bernardino, the lead auditor of the 2nd audit cycle, as well as recognized the dedication and hard work of the three campuses that underwent the surveillance audit.
Likewise, Dr. Jhonner D. Ricafort (Vice President for Academic Affairs) conveyed his appreciation to Dr. Bernardino for the comprehensive audit and emphasized that the University will undertake appropriate actions to address proactively the areas of concern.
Both the opening and closing meetings were attended by SorSU top management, campus directors, staff directors, unit heads, deans, and program chairs, while other key officials joined via Zoom Meeting.
