The Sorsogon State University-Planning Management Office (SorSU-PLMO) successfully conducted the first-day of the Strategic Foresight and Leadership Initiative: Planning and Team Building for SorSU’s Excellence in 2025 and Beyond, held on December 2, 2024, at Gamboa’s Orchard, San Jose, Malilipot, Albay. The event, themed “Enhancing Collaboration, Camaraderie, and Leadership Excellence for SorSU’s Advancement in National and International Development,” aimed to strengthen teamwork, improve leadership skills, and align participants with the organization’s strategic goals.
The event officially commenced on Day 1 with welcome remarks from Mr. Gerald E. Fulay, JD (VP for Administration and Finance), followed by the presentation of the Statement of Purpose by Dr. Catherine A. De Castro (Director, PLMO) who also introduced the guests and participants.
SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, delivered a message on leadership, emphasizing the importance of transformative leadership and the role it plays in shaping organizational success. Dr. Fely A. Habla (Planning Coordinator, SorSU-Sorsogon City Campus) followed with an introduction of the resource speaker and the team-building facilitators.
Moreover, Mr. Patricio A. Ballecer Jr. (Resource Speaker and Team Building Head Facilitator, Team High Impact), led the Leadership Breakthrough Workshop, which focused on practical strategies for effective leadership. In the afternoon, participants took part in a series of team-building activities, including Indoor Warm-Up Games, a Mini-Amazing Race Station Challenge, and a Cheering Challenge, which encouraged collaboration, problem-solving, and teamwork.
The event concluded with the announcement of the winners of the various challenges and the awarding of certificates of appreciation. The certificates were presented by the President, Vice Presidents, HRMDO Head, and Planning Management Director to the resource speaker and facilitators in recognition of their contributions to the event’s success. A social gathering followed, with attendees dressed in all-white attire, giving the event a unified and celebratory feel.
The initiative achieved its goal of promoting enhanced collaboration, and leadership excellence among the participants. (SorSU PIO)
