SorSU President De Jesus presents university’s continued rise in academic excellence, institutional dev’t at 3rd Quarter BOR Meeting

Chaired by CHED Commissioner Dr. Ethel Agnes Pascua-Valenzuela, the Sorsogon State University Governing Board of Regents (SorSU BOR) convened for its 3rd Quarter Regular Meeting on October 16, 2025, at Bicol University, Legazpi City, Albay.

During the meeting, SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, reported updates on SorSU’s continued advancement in academic excellence, innovation, and institutional development. Among the key recognitions highlighted were the academe’s 100% COPC compliance across all undergraduate and graduate programs, and the implementation of its College Education Behind Bars (CEBB) Program in partnership with BJMP-ROV.


SorSU also achieved ISO 9001:2015 recertification, a Very Satisfactory Rating in DBM’s 2024 Budget ng Bayan Monitor, and the Top Performing Agency Award by GSIS Sorsogon. Additional distinctions include the CHED UniFAST Bicol Compliance Excellence Award and the DOT’s Filipino Brand of Service Excellence Award.


In terms of infrastructure and research development, SorSU President De Jesus emphasized the inauguration of the SorSU-Castilla’s Sorsogon Bamboo Research Center and Slaughter Area, as well as the new CBM Building.


The report likewise underscored SorSU’s outstanding performances in licensure examinations, remarkable achievements in various regional and national student competitions, and active engagements in international academic collaborations.
