On February 19, 2026, Sorsogon State University (SorSU), through the Office of Extension & Training Services (OET), headed by Dr. Ana Cristina G. Fortes (Director, OET), in partnership with the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), successfully conducted a Birth Certificate Awarding activity for residents in Sitio Quirino, Barangay Buhatan, Sorsogon City.
The program opened with messages from Hon. Edwin Divina, Punong Barangay of Barangay Buhatan; Ms. Cross Doreh L. Lee of the Philippine Statistics Authority; and Dr. Telesforo D. Escoto, Campus Director of the Sorsogon City Campus. Mr. Danmark B. Detoito of the Sorsogon City Civil Registrar’s Office also supported the distribution activity.
The activity was undertaken to facilitate the release of birth certificates to community members, recognizing the importance of civil registration documents in accessing essential services, education, and employment opportunities. Beneficiaries were issued their official birth certificates to address their documentation needs.
