Sorsogon State University (SorSU) represented the Bicol Region in the Young Farmers Challenge (YFC) Batch 2024 National Competition held on July 13-18, 2025, at Baguio Convention Center, Baguio City. The event was organized by the Department of Agriculture (DA) through the Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Service (AMAS), in coordination with the Regional Field Office-Cordillera Administrative Region (RFO-CAR).
SorSU’s entry, Batuan Food Enterprises, was developed by fourth-year BS Entrepreneurship students of Sorsogon State University-Bulan Campus. The enterprise emerged as the regional winner, securing a PHP 250,000 grant during the regional leg of the competition. Representing SorSU were Ms. Rina O. Frac, Ms. Diana S. Madulid, Ms. Julie Ann G. Morona, and Mr. Jerom P. Febrero.
The team was joined by SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, Prof. Ma. Elena C. Demdam (Campus Director, SorSU-Bulan Campus), Dr. Diane V. Sales (Dean, College of Business & Management Education), Prof. Corazon G. Bongalosa (IRO Coordinator-Bulan Campus), and Mr. Gloriane G. Del Monte (YES Adviser) who offered support during the competition, highlighting SorSU’s commitment to empowering young entrepreneurs. (SorSU PIO)
