SorSU researchers shine at Bikol Foundation for Higher Education (BFHE) Conference 2025

Sorsogon State University (SorSU) participated in the Bikol Foundation for Higher Education (BFHE) Conference 2025 held on October 16–17, 2025, at the 3rd Floor, Bulwagang Bueno, Bicol University – Main Campus, Legazpi City, with the theme “Reframing Horizons: Higher Education and the Shifting Philippine Educational Landscape.”

The two-day conference gathered higher education leaders, educators, and researchers from various Bicol Region institutions to discuss the evolving educational landscape shaped by artificial intelligence, share innovations and best practices in instruction, research, and extension, and strengthen inter-institutional collaboration for continual improvement among HEIs.


Representing SorSU were:

  1. Dr. Jordan M. Pocaan, who presented his research titled “Core-Based Exercise Program in Movement Competency Training Course to Improve Pain Tolerance and Abdominal Endurance of Female University Students with Primary Dysmenorrhea,” under the Best Practices in Instruction, Research, and Extension Delivery Systems sub-theme.
  2. Ms. Lovely Escalora, Research Assistant, who presented “The Knowledge and Technology (KT) Generation in Philippine Bicol SUCs: Benchmark of Research Productivity, Utilization, and Rankings,” earning the 2nd Best Paper Award under the Education, Innovation, and Future Outlooks sub-theme among ten competing studies.
  3. Mr. Julius Patrick D. Bobier, Project Technical Assistant IV of Project DANAO, who presented “Socio-Economic Dynamics, Resource Use, and Conservation Priorities in a Boiling Lake Ecosystem, Philippines,” and garnered the 3rd Best Paper Award under the Climate Change and Biodiversity, Economic Enterprise Development, and Special Projects category out of nine research entries.

Also joining the conference as participants were Prof. Saturnino Carranza and Arch. Garner Ted Olaveres from SorSU Main Campus, along with other participants from SorSU Campuses, including SorSU Bulan Campus.

Through the BFHE Conference 2025, SorSU reaffirmed its commitment to fostering innovation, advancing research productivity, and contributing to the continuous transformation of higher education in the Bicol Region and beyond. (NJD)
