As part of its commitment to forging sustainable partnerships with international academic institutions aligned with the academe’s mandates of delivering quality international education, as well as meaningful research and extension community development undertakings, Sorsogon State University (SorSU) officially sealed a contract with International Visiting Lecturer (IVL), Engr. Annelin Paming, an Agri-Technology International Exchange Consultant at Dagam Farm, on July 26, 2025, held via hybrid format at the SorSU Boardroom, Sorsogon City Campus (for in-person) and online through Zoom Meeting.
Serving as the academic lead of SorSU-Castilla Campus’ K-Connect @ SorSU: Korean Language & Culture Program, Engr. Paming’s contract (from July 28, 2025 to October 15, 2025) encompasses a six-week online teaching-learning modality on Basic Korean Language and Culture for students and faculty members of the College of Agriculture and other participants. The online lectures will focus on developing fundamental language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Korean through interactive discussions.
In reference, the highly anticipated K-Connect @ SorSU: Korean Language & Culture Program consists of 12 sessions to be held twice a week (every Monday and Wednesday). This initiative will feature 11 Korean volunteer instructors from Dagam Farm, including its CEO, Mr. Kang Chang Goog, alongside SorSU-Castilla Campus faculty member & IRO Coordinator, Ms. Mari Anne B. Gojar, who will facilitate post-session language practice. The program is designed to build practical Korean language skills and cultural understanding through interactive lectures, vocabulary practice, real-life conversation skills, and culturally relevant simulations, tailoring the lessons for agricultural settings to equip students and faculty for fieldwork in South Korea.
As the academic expert, the designated IVL will also facilitate reinforcement and cultural context to support learner understanding while observing and assisting both learners and volunteer instructors throughout the 36-hour program.
Aside from serving as an Agri-Technology International Exchange Consultant at Dagam Farm, Engr. Paming currently works as an English Teacher in English language institutes in South Korea, with 13 years of teaching experience in public elementary schools. She is a licensed Professional Agricultural Engineer in the Philippines, holding a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering from Bicol University, a Master’s degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from Busan University of Foreign Studies (BUFS) in South Korea. Additionally, she has completed various courses from leading institutions, including a recent 214-hour Korean Bilingual Teaching Course aimed at equipping educators in teaching multicultural children in Korea, spearheaded by the Kyungnam Family Center in collaboration with Jinju National University.
