In a move to deepen institutional partnerships and promote collaborative efforts in research, extension programs, and academic exchange, Sorsogon State University, through its International Relations Office (SorSU-IRO), officially partnered with Can Tho University, Vietnam. This cooperation was formalized through a ceremonial signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) held on September 8, 2025, at the SorSU Boardroom, Sorsogon City.
SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, in her remarks, highlighted the importance of strategic collaboration between the two universities, noting that by leveraging their strengths and capabilities, they can pursue meaningful opportunities and address common challenges effectively. She also stated, “We are confident that given the combined experiences and resources of our universities, we shall be able to attain even greater heights and reach farther horizons together as partner universities.”
During the MOU signing ceremony, President De Jesus represented Sorsogon State University, while Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trung Tinh served as the representative of Can Tho University, Vietnam. The event was attended by Dr. Jhonner D. Ricafort (VP for Academic Affairs), Dr. Telesforo D. Escoto (Campus Director-Sorsogon City), Dr. Vivien L. Chua (Director, SorSU-IRO), Dr. Orlando Doncillo (Dean-College of Technology), Engr. Rufu Durian III (Dean-College of Engineering and Architecture), Research Director Engr. Ivy Gonzales, OIC-DRR&CC Prof. Ryan Remolacio and Ms. Caroline Hamor, whose attendance reflected the university’s strong support for promoting cross-cultural academic exchange and global partnership.
