SorSU successfully culminates PROGRAM SYNAPSE – Workout Cookout Program through 3rd Session — beneficiaries from Brgy. Salog engage in Zumba exercises, cooking competition

Bearing the theme, “Sama-samang Mag-ehersisyo at Kumain ng Masustansiya para sa isang Healthy Pilipinas,” Sorsogon State University’s Workout Cookout Program, under the extension project “PROGRAM SYNAPSE” led by Dr. Aaron A. Funa (Project Leader/Overall Chair), successfully culminated through a third and final session, providing the beneficiaries from Brgy. Salog the avenues in cultivating a comprehensive understanding and integration of nutrition as well as physical and mental health aligned with the DOH’s “Healthy Pilipinas: Health is Life” campaign initiative, held on July 13, 2024, at the SorSU Covered Court, Sorsogon City Campus.

Consisting of Zumba workouts, a series of games & activities, and a cooking competition, the Workout Cookout Program: Third Session commenced with an opening message from Dr. Aaron A. Funa (Project Leader/Overall Chair), followed by a welcome message from Ms. Mary Ann J. Jintalan (Guidance Counselor, Guidance and Counseling Services Unit).


Mr. Tomas M. Encinares, Jr. (CoTEdM faculty) and Ms. Ma. Cosna E. Jacob (CBM faculty) interactively led the Zumba proper and actively participated by the attendees as well as faculty and student extensionists.


Meanwhile, Mr. Robert J. Jamisola (CoTEdM faculty) presented the panel of judges for the cooking competition, namely, Prof. Rogelio B. Las Pinas, Jr. (CBM faculty), Mr. Novie F. Evasco (CBM faculty), and Mr. Tomas M. Encinares, Jr., whereas Ms. Shayne Kate A. Gozo (CoTEdM faculty) explained the mechanics/guidelines for the said contest. While the cooking competition is ongoing with five pairs as contestants, the SorSU faculty, alongside the student extensionists, prepared a series of engaging games and activities for other participants.


Further, the afternoon activity highlighted the awarding of winners for the cooking competition and game exercises, which was facilitated by Dr. Funa, Dr. Telesforo D. Escoto (Campus Director, Sorsogon City Campus), and Dr. Jhonner D. Ricafort (Vice President for Academic Affairs). Workout Cookout Program – 3rd Session concluded with the closing remarks from Campus Director Dr. Escoto, extending his appreciation to the Brgy. Salog community members for their active participation and cooperation. Moreover, Project Leader Dr. Funa emphasized that although the Workout Cookout Program has concluded, SorSU will continue to work and coordinate with Brgy. Salog, along with the institution’s other relevant activities and initiatives. The beneficiaries, through the Workout Cookout Program of SorSU, also received gift packages, groceries, and ‘Healthy is Life’ shirts.
