Sorsogon State University (SorSU), headed by SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, and Tanggol Kalikasan (TK), a public interest environmental law office with 37 years of legal and education-related work in the country, engaged in an exploratory meeting for a potential partnership on environmental governance and protection, held on August 1, 2025, at the Office of the President (OP).
The meeting discussed the respective roles and functions of the two institutions in preparation for a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) focused on establishing an Institute of Environmental Governance (IEG). This collaboration aims to address the training needs of local government units (LGUs) and stakeholders in environmental management, planning, and conservation; as well as create a joint management framework for developing and implementing IEG policies and programs; conduct research programs; and support environmental projects.
Tanggol Kalikasan (TK) was represented by Atty. Fritzielyn Q. Palmiery (Tanggol Kalikasan Executive Director), Atty. Mark R. Martinez (Tanggol Kalikasan Staff Lawyer), Ms. Doris M. Amandy (Project Officer), and Mr. John Lloyd B. Abejo (Assistant Project Officer). Also present during the meeting were Dr. Ana Cristina G.
