Based on the joint CHED ROV and OPSD evaluation visit conducted by the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office V (CHED ROV), CHED – Office of Programs and Standards Development (OPSD), and Regional Quality Assessment Team (RQAT) last August 15, 2024, SorSU’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing program was assessed to be compliant with the minimum standards for Levels I-IV as indicated in CMO No. 15, s. 2017. Thus, SorSU was granted approval on its application for the issuance of Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) to offer BS Nursing (BSN) effective Academic Year 2024-2025 per CEB Resolution No. 512-2024.
The University’s new program offering, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), is committed to positively impacting and further strengthening the medical and local healthcare systems both in the region and the country by producing professional nurses prepared to take on entry-level roles in health facilities and local communities.
Impressively, the BSN program is fully equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including its proudly featured cutting-edge Nursing Arts Rooms for Simulation, lecture halls at the Midwifery Building, and modern skills laboratories at the Science Integrated Building. SorSU Nursing Arts Rooms for Simulation are designed as realistic training environments and, at the same time, safe learning spaces where nursing students can engage in practical, first-hand interactions.
Further, the simulation rooms provide invaluable opportunities for aspiring nurses to practice their clinical skills in a technologically advanced simulated setting, comprised of high-fidelity manikins such as adult, pediatric, and neonatal models (Noelle in Delivery Room, Teri in ICU, & Keri in ER); modern medical equipment including ECG monitors; realistic clinical scenarios from routine procedures to emergency interventions; interdisciplinary learning opportunities; debriefing and reflection rooms; and flexible learning environment.
