Strengthening the Call to Serve: SorSU Castilla and Philippine Army Hold Hybrid Recruitment Drive

Building a resilient and safe nation is a shared responsibility that begins with citizens who are willing to serve and protect. This spirit of service came alive at Sorsogon State University – Castilla Campus as it partnered with the Philippine Army’s Army Recruitment Office Luzon for a Hybrid Recruitment Information Drive on February 4, 2026.

‎The activity was conducted onsite at the Farmers Training Center Audio Visual Hall and simultaneously streamed via Zoom. It gathered graduating students, alumni, and members of the community who are interested in pursuing careers in the military either as commissioned officers or enlisted personnel. The hybrid format allowed wider participation and ensured that more aspiring applicants received accurate and timely information about joining the service.

‎The program was hosted by NSTP Director Al M. Alcantara, who kept the audience engaged throughout the session. One of the highlights of the event was the comprehensive presentation delivered by Technical Sergeant Regil E. Cesar, Bicol Focal Person. He provided a detailed orientation on the Officer Candidate Course and the Candidate Soldier Course. His discussion included the qualifications, documentary requirements, application procedures, and the Pre Entry Examination. Participants were given a clear understanding of the steps needed to begin a career in the Philippine Army.

‎An open forum followed the presentation, creating an avenue for participants to raise questions and clarify concerns. The session encouraged active participation and allowed attendees to receive direct responses from recruitment personnel. Many took the opportunity to learn more about training, career paths, and the responsibilities that come with military service.
‎In his closing message, TSG Cesar encouraged aspiring applicants to believe in their potential and take the first step toward self-improvement and national service. He reminded them that discipline and determination are essential qualities for those who choose to wear the uniform.

‎The recruitment drive concluded on a positive and inspiring note. Participants left the venue with renewed motivation and a deeper understanding of what it means to serve the country. Through this collaborative effort, SorSU Castilla Campus and the Philippine Army strengthened their commitment to nation building by guiding future protectors toward a path of honor and service.
