The Sorsogon State University (SorSU) family applauds and celebrates the achievements of Himig SorSUeños in the 6th PENABUR International Choir Festival (PICF) held from September 9-14, 2024, in Kelapa Gading, Jakarta, Indonesia.
Himig SorSUenos, competed against 130 choirs from around the world and successfully clinched the following awards:
🏅Gold Award – Level II (Second Highest) for Mixed Choir Level B Category
🏅Gold Award – Level II for Pop & Jazz Category
The SorSU community extends its gratitude to the leadership of SorSU President Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, the SorSU International Relations Office and its director Dr. Vivien L. Chua, SorSU Sorsogon City Campus Director Dr. Telesforo D. Escoto, the university administration, faculty, employees, and students for their steadfast support in this endeavor.
Moreover, the university is immensely grateful to the Philippine Embassy in Indonesia, specifically Her Excellency Gina A. Jamoralin, Vice Consul Inha Santos, and Mr. Rady Dela Cruz (Head, Cultural Affairs in the Embassy) for their assistance to the choristers while in Indonesia.
Along with this, the Pamantasang May Puso acknowledges the generosity and support from the Local Government of Sorsogon, especially Hon. Marie Bernadette “Dette” G. Escudero (1st District Representative, Sorsogon Province), Hon. Wowo Fortes (2nd District Representative, Sorsogon Province), Governor Hon. Jose Edwin “Boboy” Hamor, Vice-Governor Hon. Krunimar Antonio D. Escudero II, and Sorsogon City Mayor Hon. Maria Ester E. Hamor.
Congratulations to the Himig SorSUenos’ master conductor Prof. Edwin Balgemino, Ms. Lizel Lerios, the SorSU Culture and Arts Unit, Dr. Bienvenido B. Constantino Jr., Dr. Edgardo Manguiat (Founder, UP Singing Ambassadors), and mentors.
