The Mental Health Awareness Symposium held on November 20, 2025, at the MBC Hall, LGU Building, Magallanes, Sorsogon, brought together students from different high schools for a day of learning, connection, and empowerment. From the early morning arrivals to the final raffle draw, the event created a safe and supportive space where young students could understand mental health in a clearer, kinder, and more practical way.
With the guidance of Mayor Hon. Maria Elena Ramona M. Ragrario, the students were reminded of the power of unity, diversity, and compassion. Hon. Roella Oriarte Armenta, SK Federation Chairperson, encouraged the youth to honor their uniqueness and to be gentle with themselves and others.
Students enjoyed an engaging icebreaker game, “Snowball,” which allowed them to open up, laugh, and connect with new faces. Three major seminars followed: Coping With Stress, Navigating Mental Health in the Digital Age, and Recognizing Early Signs of Depression and Anxiety — led by professionals who used simple explanations and real-life examples the youth could relate to, and how to cope with them. Interactive activities, logical games, and raffle draws kept the symposium lively and meaningful throughout the program.
The event ended on a hopeful note with the distribution of seeds, along with a heartfelt message from Mr. Joel Grutas of the Local Youth Development Office.
