The SorSU Castilla Campus buzzed with excitement on September 11, 2024, as scholars from the College of Agriculture gathered at the FTC Hall for the much-awaited Scholars’ General Assembly. The event brought together students, faculty, and university officials, united by a shared commitment to academic excellence and leadership.
Prof. Andrew F. Detera, SorSU Castilla Campus Director, set a positive tone for the event with a warm welcome, emphasizing the significant role scholars play in the university’s future.
In a virtual message, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, SUC President III, offered words of wisdom that inspired the scholars to strive for greatness. This was followed by an empowering message from Prof. Maria Crisanta M. Jarque, SorSU Director of Student Development Services, who encouraged the scholars to harness their potential for personal and societal growth.
A pivotal moment in the assembly came from Mr. John Hermel D. Meneses, Scholarship and Finance Services Coordinator at SorSU Castilla, who outlined scholarship guidelines to help scholars maximize their academic opportunities. The introduction of the Scholars’ League, an initiative designed to foster unity and mutual support, further energized the event. Engr. Angelo D. Domanico, former Scholars’ League president and a 2018 alumnus, shared his experiences, highlighting the importance of collaboration and community.
The event reached its peak with the election of new Scholars’ League officers, ensuring the continuity of leadership and representation for the scholar community. Ms. Marinel D. Soriano, Head of SorSU Scholarship and Financial Services, concluded the day with a powerful message that reinforced the significance of striving for both academic success and personal growth.
The event ended with an engaging open forum, where scholars openly discussed their concerns, ideas, and aspirations.
