University of the Philippines College of Science Library visits SorSU for benchmarking

The University of the Philippines College of Science Library embarked on a benchmarking visit to Sorsogon State University on June 20, 2024, aimed at fostering a productive exchange of best practices and innovations in library services.

Led by Ms. Marie Antoinette Villaflor, the delegation received a warm welcome from SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus. The event officially commenced with opening remarks delivered by Dr. Telesforo D. Escoto (Campus Director, Sorsogon City Campus). In his message, he said, “It is truly gratifying to know that the UPCS Library visit is centered on the best practices implemented at our humble university library. This is a remarkable opportunity for us to learn from their expertise and exchange knowledge with one of the most prestigious institutions in the country.”


Attendees were provided with a virtual tour of the university and the SorSU E-Library via audio-visual presentation. Ms. Marie Antoinette Villaflor (Head Librarian, University of the Philippines College of Science Library) shared valuable insights, followed by a presentation from Mx. Fraymon Joy Cruz (College Librarian II, Head of Institute Libraries, College of Science) on the UPCS Library’s pioneering initiatives and advancements.


The session featured a gesture of goodwill with a ceremonial book donation and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Sorsogon State University and the University of the Philippines College of Science Library. Ms. Erlinda P. Enguerra (University Librarian) delivered the closing remarks emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts in enhancing library services.
