The Sorsogon State University Magallanes Campus recently held its 2025 Recognition Day with the theme “Recognizing Excellence: Life Champions, Future-Ready SorSuenos.” The event was a grand celebration of academic excellence, leadership, and athletic prowess, honoring the outstanding achievements of students who have excelled in various fields.
The program began with an opening prayer and the singing of the National Anthem, setting a solemn and patriotic tone for the ceremony. Campus Director Lynn C. Mendoza then delivered the welcome remarks, officially opening the day’s celebration.
One of the highlights of the event was the inspirational message delivered by guest speaker Ms. Carmela Diane Doma-Anonuevo, Batch 2020 alumnus, Magna Cum Laude graduate, and Top 7 passer in the October 2022 Licensure Examination for Teachers. Introduced by Asst. Prof. Franklin Calaminos, Program Chair of the Education Department, Ms. Doma-Anonuevo shared her remarkable journey, underscoring the importance of perseverance, dedication, and hard work in achieving excellence. Her story served as a source of encouragement for students to continue striving for greatness as future-ready SorSuenos.
The ceremony also featured the awarding of medals and certificates to academic achievers, including president’s and dean’s listers. Leadership awardees and the Athlete of the Year were likewise recognized for their exceptional talents and contributions to the university.
Representing the graduating class, Ms. Sofia Mikaela Parido delivered a heartfelt message of gratitude, expressing appreciation for the opportunities and experiences the university had provided. Dr. Maria Crisanta M. Jarque, Director of Student Development and Services, also addressed the students, highlighting the essential role of student development programs in shaping their university journey.
The program formally concluded with the closing remarks of Dr. Olive N. Mancera, Dean of the Education Department, followed by the singing of the University Hymn.
The 2025 Recognition Day was a testament to the university’s commitment to nurturing and honoring student excellence. As the honorees move forward, they carry with them the values of perseverance, dedication, and integrity—true marks of future-ready SorSuenos.
