SorSU pursues International Linkage with Hiroshima University 

Sorsogon State University met with the delegates from Hiroshima University of Hiroshima, Japan on February 27, 2023, at the University Board Room to sign a memorandum of agreement and discuss future plans as partner Universities.

SorSU President Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus accompanied by the SorSU Vice President for Research, Extension, and Training (VP RET) Dr. Ryan V. Dio, Director for International Relations Office, Dr. Vivien L. Chua, Faculty Researchers of Magallanes Campus Dr. Richard V. Dumilag and Prof. Teresa Heidi R Belgica discuss the possible linkage projects and plans with the visitors from Hiroshima University namely Dr. Lawrence M. Liao, Associate Professor (Special Appointment) from the Graduate School of Biosphere Science, Dr. Aki Kato, an Associate Professor of the Takehara Fisheries Research Station, Setouchi Field Science Center on the Graduate School of Integrated Science for Life, Dr. Narongrit Muangmai who is a Special Lecturer and Mr. Yusuke Nakama, a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Major in Aquatic Bioresource student from Hiroshima University.

Afterward, SorSU signed a memorandum of agreement with Hiroshima University sealing the partnership of the two Universities to specifically engage in innovative research and collaborative extension programs along different Research Extension and Training (RET) agendas for the sustainable development of Sorsogon.

Furthermore, Drs. Liao, Kato, Muangmai, and Mr. Nakama are scheduled to visit research sites in Bulusan and Sta. Magdalena, Sorsogon. On the other hand, Mr. Nakama will be at the SorSU Magallanes Campus for two weeks to work on a possible research collaboration. The group will also observe the 2023 Sorsogon State University South East Asian Multidisciplinary Research Expo and Extension Conference (SEAMREEC) event (March 1-4, 2023) at Sorsogon Cultural Center, Sorsogon City.
