Aligned with his visit to Southeast Asia for his Erasmus+Project, Prof. Cheungwai Chan of Vrije Universiteit Brusse (VUB), an independent academic institution based in Brussels, Belgium, conducted a courtesy visit to SorSU President Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, on October 9, 2023 at the Sorsogon Main campus.
Organized by Dr. Vivien L. Chua (Director-International Relations Office), the visit was followed by a presentation/discussion at the Sorsogon City Campus Director’s Office and attended by Dr. Ryan Dio (VP for Research, Extension and Trainings), Dr. Telesforo Escoto (Campus Director-Sorsogon City Campus), Dr. Richard Dumilag (IRO Coordinator-Sorsogon City and Erasmus+Project Focal Person SorSU), Mr. Mark Ariel D. Malto (Magallanes Campus). Dr. Aaron Funa (Sorsogon City Campus), and Mr. Renz Alvin Gabay (Sorsogon City Campus).
A collaboration between VUB’s Erasmus + Capacity Building Project with Dr. Dumilag’s team on GIT (Geoinformation Technology) in Marine Ecology is being explored as the group discussed various areas of cooperation. This international partnership will further enhance SorSU’s education, research, and governance goals as well as encourage the provision of a state-of-the-art laboratory equipment. A tour around the city followed the discussion and ended with a dinner hosted by President De Jesus. (SorSU PIO)
