SorSU inks MOA with DENR 5 — marks collab on Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS) Project

Advancing SorSU’s commitment of collaborative cooperation and linkage with various institutions and agencies toward the greater benefit of its local stakeholders and broader community, a ceremonial signing of Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between Sorsogon State University (SorSU) and Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 5 successfully took place last May 22, 2024, signifying a proactive partnership between SorSU & DENR through Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS) Project, held at Siama Hotel, Bibincahan, Sorsogon City.

The MOA signing ceremony was graced and represented by SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, Dr. Ryan V. Dio (SorSU-Vice President for Research, Extension and Training), Ms. Adona San Diego (Assistant Regional Director for Special Concern, DENR Region 5), Mr. Anthony Foronda (National Project Manager ABS Project, respectively, as well as other representatives and personnel of SorSU and DENR Region 5.
SorSU and DENR’s latest collaboration aims to enhance economic opportunity and biodiversity conservation both for local and indigenous peoples through equitable sharing of biodiversity benefits and, at the same time, generate bio-products from local genetic resources, particularly Pili (Canarium ovatum & Canarium luzonicum) in Region 5.
