Youth Empowerment Convention highlights youth’s role in nation building

The Youth Empowerment Convention 2024, hosted by the Sorsogon State University League of Tourism Management Students, brought together youth leaders to learn from experts in the field of leadership on May 7, 2024 at the SorSU AV Hall.

Centered on the theme “Youth Inclusion in Decision-Making Processes: Strengthening Democracy in the Philippines,” the convention aimed to empower Sangguniang Kabataan Officials, Sorsogon Student Leaders and aspiring Youth Leaders to play an active role in decision-making processes.

The event underscored the role of the youth in shaping the nation’s future. Throughout the convention, attendees were able to gain knowledge and skills to make informed decisions and contribute to the democratic process.

The keynote speakers, Mr. Julius Edma, a Youth Development Officer of the Provincial Government of Sorsogon and Ms. Danica De Jesus, Bicol spokesperson from the Kabataan Partylist, provided the attendees with deeper understanding of leadership principles and strategies.
Special messages were also given by Atty. Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo (14th Vice President of the Philippines and Chairperson & President, Angat Pilipinas, Inc.); Hon. Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero (Senator of the Republic of the Philippines); Hon. Senator Ana Theresia “Risa” Hontiveros (Senator of the Republic of the Philippines) and SUC President III Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus. (SorSU PIO)
