SorSU-Lab High Grade 7 student Renovalles seizes gold, triumphs as champion at ASIAROPE Olympiad – International Round 2024: Mathematics (Category IV) in Hong Kong; visits SorSU President De Jesus
With great pride and honor, the Sorsogon State University (SorSU) proudly congratulates SorSU – Laboratory High School Grade 7 student Maemi Maria Philippe J. Renovalles for successfully clinching the gold medal during the recently-concluded ASIAROPE Olympiad – International Round 2024: Mathematics under the Category IV (Grades 6 & 7), held last May 24-28, in Sha Tin, Hong Kong — thus impressively emerging as the Category IV Champion, besting other contenders from Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, and Bulgaria.
Relatively, the 90-minute international competition in Mathematics was divided into two parts: Multiple Test Questions and Short Answer Questions, covering five (5) categories, to wit: Number Theory, Algebra, Geometry, Logical Analysis, and Combinatorics. The first fifteen questions are equivalent to four (4) marks each, while the last five (5) questions are worth 6 marks each. Aside from Mathematics, the ASIAROPE Olympiad 2024 also featured international round competitions in Science and Journalism.
Maemi was accompanied by Prof. Maria Flora J. Renovalles (Department Head, SorSU-LHS) and Mr. Kristopher A. Hiloma (Coach & CoTEdM faculty) in the international competition.
Further, Maemi likewise paid a courtesy call to SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, last May 31, 2024, along with Prof. Renovalles and Coach Hiloma.
