Led by SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, a groundbreaking ceremony of the SorSU’s Pili Production Innovation and Sustainability Project (PiliPINAS) Center was held last March 02, 2023, at Sorsogon State University (SorSU) – Castilla Campus, Mayon, Castilla.
The SorSU-PiliPINAS Center will provide streamlined and up-to-date transfer of knowledge, farming and other related skills, and expertise on pili production.
The Regional Pili Training Center (RPTC) promotes and empowers advanced farming training of locals, prospective employment and livelihood activities, income-generating ventures, and strong partnerships between and among pili stakeholders, government agencies, various organizations, and local communities.
Present during the notable undertaking was Atty. Septon A. Dela Cruz, CESO III (CHED Region V Director); Hon. Marie Bernadette “Dette” Escudero (Representative, 1st District of Sorsogon); Mrs. Felina Angeles in lieu of Dr. Maria Teresa V. Destura (Office of the Provincial Agriculturist); Hon. Isagani “Bong” B. Mendoza (Municipal Mayor of Castilla); Hon. Vicente B. Manata (Municipal Vice Mayor of Castilla); as well as SorSU’s top executives: Dr. Ryan V. Dio (Vice President for Research, Extension & Training); Dr. Jhonner D. Ricafort (Vice President for Academic Affairs); Prof. Andrew F. Detera, Dr. Telesforo D. Escoto, Prof. Ma. Elena C. Demdam, and Dr. Lynn C. Mendoza (Campus Directors of Castilla, Sorsogon City, Bulan, & Magallanes, respectively); Dr. Susan S.
