June 10, 2024, the Sorsogon State University Castilla Campus proudly held the completion rites for the National Service Training Program-Civil Welfare Training Service (NSTP-CWTS). The ceremony was attended by 551 NSTP completers from various programs, including the Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness and Agriculture with majors in Crop Science, Animal Science, and Agricultural Education.
The event, themed “Rising Strong: Embracing Resilience, Empowering Change, and Encouraging Volunteerism,” emphasized the importance of resilience in overcoming challenges and adapting to change. It encouraged students to continue their volunteerism, using their resilience as a powerful force for social good and ultimately empowering them to make positive impacts in their communities.
The opening remarks given by SorSU Castilla Campus Director Prof. Andrew F. Detera extend his warm greetings of congratulations for the completers for finishing the NSTP program and also for their roles as stewards of the environment and leadership.
The keynote speaker, Hon. John Melchor Candia, the Sangguniang Kabataan Chairman of Barangay Mayon, Castilla. Engaged the students with a mini-game to underscore the importance of leadership and teamwork, followed by an inspirational message.
Zedrick Escobedo, President of the NSTP Kaagapay organization, delivered a heartfelt speech, stating, “This is not the end, but the continuation of a new beginning.” In lieu of SorSU Castilla DRRM-CC Coordinator Prof. Achilles G. Honasan, Mrs. Genly Morante-Gonzales led the pledge of commitment and volunteerism. The event concluded with closing remarks from Mrs. Charlene Lagunilla, SorSU Castilla NSTP Coordinator.
