SorSU-ROTC Units hold Joint ROTC Graduation and Turn-Over of Command Ceremony — record a total of 608 Basic Cadet Graduates, 53 Advance Cadet Graduates

With a total of 608 ROTC Basic Cadet and 53 Advance Cadet graduates, Sorsogon State University – Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (SorSU-ROTC) Units, comprising of Sorsogon City, Bulan, and Castilla Campuses, successfully spearheaded a universitywide Joint ROTC Graduation and Turn-Over of Command Ceremony last June 15, 2024, at the SorSU Covered Court, Sorsogon City Campus.

The ROTC graduation rites formally commenced with welcome remarks from Dr. Telesforo D. Escoto (Campus Director, SorSU-Sorsogon City Campus), in lieu of Dr. Jhonner D. Ricafort (Vice President for Academic Affairs). TSG Gerardo B Moreno (INF) PA (Chief Clerk, Sorsogon City Campus), SSG Resberto Machete (MI) PA (Chief Clerk, Bulan Campus), and CPL Oliver P Laceda (INF) PA (Chief Clerk, Castilla Campus) facilitated the presentation of candidates for graduation, whereas the declaration of graduates was led by MAJ Annamy N Nero (OS) PA (Commandant, SorSU City Campus).


The University recorded a total of 479 ROTC graduates from the Sorsogon City Campus (Basic Cadets – 458, Advance Cadets – 21). Castilla Campus earned 110 ROTC graduates in total (Basic Cadets – 97, Advance Cadets – 13), while Bulan Campus produced 53 Basic Cadet graduates and 19 Advance Cadet Graduates, a total of seventy-two (72).


Headed by COL Ronie T Ebarita INF (MNSA) PA (Superintendent & Group Commander, 5RCDG, RCPA); MAJ Annamy N Nero (OS) PA (Commandant, SorSU City Campus); Sorsogon City Campus Director Escoto; Prof. Ma. Claire M. Dicen (SorSU-NSTP Director); NSTP Coordinators, Prof. Mary Rose B. Lacdang (Sorsogon City Campus), Prof. Charlene N. Lagunilla (Castilla Campus), Mr. Richard Rabulan (Bulan Campus); and CPT Emeterio S Belmonte Jr PA (RES), the awarding ceremony highlighted the awarding of medals and certificates to respective Honor ROTC Cadets across three campuses, presentation of special awards such as Leadership Award, Duty Award, & Loyalty Award, as well as the presentation of certificate of appreciation to the NSTP officials and training staff.


Meanwhile, Part III of the ceremonies featured the Turn-Over of Command of three campuses, respectively, including the Reading of Relinquishment and Assumption Order ROTC by CPT Rolly L Vibar (INF) PA (Tactical Officer, Sorsogon City Campus); the Relinquishment of Command between the Outgoing Corps Commander and Incoming Corps Commander; Assumption of Command, Turn-Over of Command Symbol, and Message of Activated ROTC Unit Outgoing Corps Commander.


Subsequently, it was followed by the Acceptance of Newly Reservist and the Oath of Newly Reservist. Remarkably, COL Ronnie T Ebarita (MNSA) PA (Superintendent & Group Commander, 5RCDG, RCPA) delivered the keynote address of this year’s ROTC graduation. Further, with the assistance of Sorsogon City Campus Director Escoto and NSTP Director Dicen, MAJ Nero supervised the Presentation of Memento.
