On August 10, 2024, Sorsogon State University’s Scholarship and Financial Assistance Services Unit (SorSU-SFASU), under the Office of the Students Development and Services (OSDS), hosted a successful distribution ceremony of CHED Tulong Dunong Program-Tertiary Education Subsidy (CHED TDP-TES) stipends. The event was held at SorSU Audio-Visual Hall, Sorsogon City Campus, and was attended by students and esteemed government officials.
The ceremony began with a warm welcome address from SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus. Atty. Septon A. Dela Cruz, CESO III (Regional Director), and Atty. Ryan L. Estevez, DPA (Executive Director, UniFAST), also addressed the attendees, underscoring the importance of the scholarship program in empowering students to achieve their academic goals.
In addition to the in-person speakers, the event featured video messages from distinguished figures. Dr. J. Prospero “Popoy” E. De Vera III (Chairman, CHED), and Hon. Ferdinand Marcos (President, Republic of the Philippines), both delivered remarks and conveyed their congratulations through pre-recorded messages.
Following their addresses, Cong. Marie Bernadette G. Escudero, Atty. Septon A. Dela Cruz and Atty. Ryan L. Estevez personally distributed the grants, highlighting their commitment to enhancing educational opportunities for university students. A total of 287 students each received a scholarship grant of Php 7,500.
The ceremony concluded with a congratulatory and closing message from Cong. Dette Escudero, who reaffirmed her dedication to supporting students’ educational pursuits. Present during the event were Hon. Krunimar Antonio D. Escudero II (Vice-Governor, Sorsogon), Hon. Rommel John C. Mella (Board Member, 1st District, Sorsogon), and other prominent figures.
