Bannering the theme, “Empowering Scholars for Excellence and Leadership in a Changing World,” the Sorsogon State University – Scholarship and Financial Assistance Services Unit (SorSU-SFASU), under the Office of the Student Development and Services (OSDS), successfully held the Scholars’ General Assembly on August 28, 2024, at the Bulan and Magallanes Campuses.
The general assembly formally began with welcome remarks from Ms. Renibec A. Balaguer (SFASU Coordinator, Bulan Campus) for Bulan Campus and Dr. Mae H. San Pablo (QA Coordinator) for Magallanes Campus.
SUC President III, Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, also delivered a message through an audio-visual presentation, followed by another message from the OSDS Director, Prof. Maria Crisanta M. Jarque.
The Scholarship Guidelines/Roles and Responsibilities of Scholars were presented by Prof. Nestor L. Lasala, Jr. (SFASU Coordinator, Sorsogon City Campus) and Prof. Franklin P. Calaminos (SFASU Coordinator, Magallanes Campus) for Bulan and Magallanes Campuses, respectively.
Mr. Angelo D. Domanico, Former President of the Scholars’ League – Batch 2018, discussed the organization’s objectives, functions, and guidelines, as well as the previously conducted activities and events. Further, the assembly also served as a platform to elect the Scholars’ League officers and addressed queries from the scholars through an open forum. DOST Scholars Jon Vic Gallon and Rhealy Becera facilitated the nominations and elections of officers per scholarship program in the two campuses.
