Designed to educate and sensitize personnel in general services and maintenance roles about issues related to Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression, and Sex Characteristics (SOGIESC), the Office of Gender and Development organized a training themed “Transforming Workspaces: SOGIESC Sensitivity for General Services and Maintenance Staff” on August 17, 2024, at Mai’s Hotel and Resort, Caricaran Bacon, Sorsogon City.
The training commenced with a welcome address from Dr. Cristopher Jaramiel (Director, General Services and Maintenance). This was followed by an inspirational message from Dr. Ma. Sylisa J. Estur (Chief, Administrative Officer-Administrative Division). Prof. Riche Justin P. Duran then provided an overview of the day’s agenda.
The session included a series of informative presentations. Prof. Lelanie L. Berjuega (Head, Industrial Linkages Development Office) discussed Good Work Ethics. Following this, Prof. Maria Crisanta M. Jarque (Director, Office of Student Development and Services) gave a comprehensive talk on SOGIESC, providing an enlightening presentation on the diverse spectrum of identities and the challenges faced by individuals within these communities.
Moreover, Prof. Abner L. Dellosa explained the challenges faced by people with diverse SOGIESC in the workplace, providing insights into the barriers and biases they often face.
