In the aftermath of Typhoon Kristine, more than 90 stranded passengers in Brgy. Buhatan received essential meals last October 23, 2024, thanks to the Sorsogon State University National Service Training Program (SorSU NSTP)’s initiative. The activity is funded through generous contributions of supportive individuals after a call-for-donation post in social media.
SorSU NSTP volunteers led by Ms. Ma. Mary Rose B. Lacdang (NSTP Coordinator), ROTC officers and students, DRRM and College of Technology instructors and volunteers led by Prof. Saturnino Carranza (Director, DRRM) and Dr. Orlando Doncillo (Dean, CoT), distributed hot meals consisting of eggs, rice porridge, and adobo with rice to the affected passengers. Additionally, residents of Brgy. Piot – Purok 2 and 3 were provided with rice porridge and pancit for merienda, along with clothing donations to assist with their immediate needs.
The activity continued on October 24, 2024, with stranded passengers from Brgy. Pangpang and residents from Brgy. Bucalbucalan and Brgy. Piot – Purok 3 also receiving hot meals and some relief goods.
Once again, this initiative emphasized the commitment of the Pamantasang May Puso to community support during difficult times, showcasing the collaborative efforts that facilitated the rapid delivery of assistance for those in need. (SorSU PIO)
